Sound deadener
And I hate it for ya man. Honestly, if I had a GT, I would have never upgraded my stereo like I have with the v6. I would focus solely on the exhaust. A good exhaust system on a GT sounds better than 95% of the **** that comes on the radio nowadays. Make it extra loud so you don't have to hear other people's sh!tty music too.
Well I have uprgraded my stereo. I only had the basic system..no mach system. So it sucked. I have amped boston acoustic 5x7's and a 10" sub.
But it's just the drone I'm looking to cut down on.

I removed my rear cats as well and from the front 2 cats I welded in the pypes o/r pipe and welded it right behind the front cats with a up tilt to keep it hidden and for ground clearance, I installed a 2.5 catback with turbo mufflers, you can hear it at low speed but at cruising speeds 70-75mph no more drone then a complete factory exhaust setup, and from behind you can't see any of the exhaust hanging like when I had the pypes catted x pipe which hung down below the sfc's and scraped speed bumps.
my UPR x hangs a little lower than I would like. Nothing a little heat and a jack cant fix. I'm going to heat the bend ofthe x pipe and push it up a little.
I wouldn't mind adding material to quiet the drone, which i did some reading and there is "dampener" type material and "barrier" type material. But like it has been said, to do it RIGHT is a good amount of weight.
I read on a site for a specific brand that it was 1lb per sq foot. I forget what brand it was, I just googled "sound deadener"

Well I came across a seemingly informative video actually showing a comparision of before and after Second Skin install:

That just shows me numbers, and I cannot quantify that in my head. For one thing I don't know what I have for levels in my car now and and secondly sounds are something that is hard to picture when it is something non-tangible. The car was a corolla and couldn't hear anything on the before clip since they are gnerally quiet cars to begin with.

She posted her results: http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/...6-post177.html
A whopping 3.2625 decibels of noise reduction from applying deadening, closed cell foam, and mass loaded vinyl.
Now you see why Dynamat and the other manufacturers never provide REAL numbers for their deadening mat alone? Could it be because their products ARE NOT effective at blocking road/tire/exhaust noise? Don't get me wrong, it does help, just not in the way it was advertised to help.

Well I have since talked to the owner (Anthony) of Second Skin, and this was his response: (emailing me what we talked about not a day before on the phone for 45 min)
Hello Dean!
Thanks for your interest in Second Skin!
Since weight is an concern, I would go with a solid layer of Damplifier through out the entire car, with a layer of Luxury Liner Pro opn top of that in all the important areas.
Front half of the floor. Rear Whell wells and quarter panels too..
That will kill the exhasut drone, and will address the heat as well.
The combination of these 2 products would be, if I recall correctly, around 60lbs of weight. He really seemed to now his stuff and was giving me numbers on why their products are "better". The Damplifier (tar like product) material is thicker than average products out there and also has a higher heat rating. In total to do halfway up the firewall all the way to under the back seat would be around $300 (both products). And that to get the results I want, it would be ill advised/a waste to get only one or the other since there is both resonant noise AND air-born frequencies. Damplifier does the resonant/metal vibrations and the Luxury Liner (foam-like) takes care of the air-born sounds.
