Messed up my 6 disk, NEED HELP!!
I have an 01 GT w/ an in-dash 6 disk. I was realy dumb and for some reason thought a mini audio disk would work in my changer and to make a long story short the mini disk jammed it....
Now before you think I'm compleately retarded, my reasoning was that a normal cd ejected far enough that I thougt it would have no trouble ejecting the smaller disk so I wasn't afraid it would get stuck...well it did and now I can't listen to any cd's.
Does anybody know how to take it out and fix it so I don't have to spend $$$$ to get it fixed at some car audio place??
I'm desperate to get my tunes back,
Thanks

Can you even see the mini disk in there? If not youve gotta pull the radio and take the casing off. Once you get inside youll have to remove some components of the stereo till you find the cd. Just remember where stuff goes and try not to disturb the laser.
How do I get the casing off? I'm afraid i might do even more damage instead of fixing it unless someone can tell me exactly how it comes off and everything. I don't see how it comes off by looking at it...
Has anybody taken the stock in-dash 6 disk cd player out of there late model stangs???? Can anybody tell me how to take mine out or apart to fix it? I've been trying to figure it out but I don't see how it comes out and I don't want to brake anything... Thanks
I would not recommend taking apart your mach 460... and especially taking it out to get your cd out... because once you take off the dash pieces, they never go back quite like they used to. Try doing eject and lifting up the "CD.6" protective cover and pulling the cd out carefully with tweezers or a similar tool. In order to take apart your mach 460 you are going to need some "specialty" tools, for example a specific screw driver to take off the 6 point screws. There are 4 of those to take off the front panel alone. If you do decide to take it apart, let me know i will send you some pictures about getting your cd player out of the dash safely.
I thought about trying to pull it out once the flap opened, but when I press eject the flap never opens it just says "error"...and when I press load it say "slotts full" I don't want to tryand force the flap open cuz the manual says not to...
Some pictures and how-to information would be great though.
thanks

First of all, remove the area around the shifter (highlighted in red), this will make removing and replacing the dash a whole lot easier, just pry around the edges and it will come off (image 1). Second remove the dash piece(highlighted in red) (image 2). Then remove the two screws below your factory radio, i have an aftermarket but the mach 460 installs the same way, and i was too lazy to unplug mine and install the mach 460 for you lol (image 3). Once the radio is removed, remove the 4 screws on the sides of the black plastic cover, there are 2 on each side. These have 6 point screws, if you do not have the necessary tool, use a small flathead and try not to round them off (image 4). Once that cover is off, i would recommend unplugging the wire (highlighted in red) because it is very fragile. You will see a stack of plastic plates which hold the cd's (also highlighted in red) one of these will hold your cd, if your cd is already in the spinning mechanism, simply lift up on the upper clamp, and the cd will come free.

Alright so it won't work no matter what I do...I took all the cd's out and it still thinks its full of cd's. At least I got my cd's out but the player won't work no matter what I do. I worked on it for a good hour and a half after I got all the cd's out trying to straighten the trays but nothing helped. I just whent out and tryed again for like 20 min. I've given up hope...At least I got my cd's back though thanks for your help you def. didn't waste my time.
Is there anything eles you think I should do to fix it? When i press the cd button it just says error and when I press load it says "slotts full" even though they're not.....I'm not sure where the trays are supposed to go when they're empty but they look crooked and I can't seem to get them right...
I saw a replacement on ebay for $120 I guess thats what I'll do.
Thanks again for all your help and pictures I'm glad I got my cd's out.
