Mach 460 Wiring Issue
I just bought a 2002 Mustang GT Convertible. It has the Mach 460 sound system. I noticed the stereo (stock) wasnt working. When I pulled it out I notived all the wires have been hacked
the plugs are no longer on the car. I then took the stereo out of my truck to wire it in I used this wiring Diagram.
Radio Constant 12V+ Wire: Light Green/Purple
Radio Switched 12V+ Wire: Black/Pink
Radio Ground Wire: Black
Radio Illumination Dimmer Wire: Light Blue/Red
Radio Antenna Trigger Wire: Orange/Light Blue
Front Speakers Size: N/A
Front Speakers Location: N/A
Left Front Speaker Wire (+): Orange/Light Green
Left Front Speaker Wire (-): Light Blue/White
Right Front Speaker Wire (+): White/Light Green
Right Front Speaker Wire (-): Green/Orange
Rear Speakers Size: N/A
Rear Speakers Location: N/A
Left Rear Speaker Wire (+): Gray/Light Blue
Left Rear Speaker Wire (-): Tan/Yellow
Right Rear Speaker Wire (+): Orange/Red
Right Rear Speaker Wire (-): Brown/Pink
I got the stereo to turn on and off with the key but no sound what so ever. Im thinking that there has to be a ground and a power/remote turn on for the amp that Im not finding. Does any one know the wiring diagram I would like to use the factory amp. Thank you.

Nevermind I found out why it dosnt work the prior owner before trading it in took all the speakers out and I think he took the factory amp too lol. I see a module looking thing down bellow close to the fire wall but I dont know if thats the stock amp.
The stock amp for the highs (the 2.5" tweaters near the mirrors and near the rear speakers) is burried under the dash, it's possible they didn't yank that out before selling it. The amps for the lows are both mounted under the speaker tray in the back and you can open the trunk and see them, I can get a picture of mine if you are unsure whether or not you have them. If these are missing I'd just go straight to a component system and not bother with replacing any factory stuff.
I prefer to do all my electrical work myself to make sure people don't hack up factory wiring. My Mustang's system is all stock but I just put a system in my 04 Subaru Legacy and I can return it to stock in a few hours, I hate hack jobs.

I just dont understand why they didnt buy the harness for there aftermarket stereo it makes life easier. They kept the stock stereo and not the plugs. They yanked all the speakers except the tweaters. They also left the Kennwood sirus radio set up under the rear seat. Im just going to buy new speakers I really wish I could have kept the stock 460 set up. There is a guy with with the 1000 set up for sale on craigs list all the amps the subs and the door speakers for 200 but Im sure it would be a long shot in swaping that in.
Yeah, it makes no sense. Some people just don't care. A Mach 1000 system for $200 is a steal! I was looking at buying just the sub boxes and nothing else and people were wanting stupid money for it. A complete 1000 system is worth over $500 on eBay.
He got rear ended really bad the car is trashed so he is parting it off. How hard would it be to convert from a Mach 460 to a Mach 1000? My car is a convertible will that make a diffrents in mounting if his was a hardtop?
If it was rear-ended are you sure the sub boxes are still OK? I've never done an upgrade from the 460 to a 1,000 but I'm sure there are directions out there. The amps are mounted to a special bracket that uses up a ton of trunk space (some people like it because it shows off their amps, I prefer to use my trunk). The sub boxes should be fairly painless to install, the Mach 1000 was a factory extra so each body should have all the mounting bits there and you just need to bolt them in. Again, I've never done this, but it should be a fairly simple install. The biggest thing I'd be worried about is the wiring. Here's a website with much more helpful information than I can provide!

I wanted to thank you for all your help
I talked to ford today and the guy I talked too was giving me good advice. He said that I would have to drill the holes replace my complete wiring with the mach 1000 system wiring he also said that the convertible (my car) had a diffrent bracket for the mach 100? I dont know if that was right because the pictures I seen looked the same. he said I might as well buy the speakers after market and stereo and go that route even though I could get the mach 1000 system for 200 bucks

You're very welcome. I don't know that you would have to replace all the wiring, but there would be some wiring involved in getting power and signal to the trunk (as with any sub install). It's possible that the vert uses a different bracket as the normal one would probably interfere with the top and cause some issues such as a broken window. I don't know how the Mach 1000 works in a vert. I like the sub boxes from the Mach 1000 as they are factory and blend well with the car. MTX makes a Thunderforms enclosure that fits these cars but IMO it's too expensive. I'll probably make a custom-formed box for my trunk or run a tube style sub so I can easily remove it for shows and such.
That would be cool to do. If you end up doing it send me some pics. Im a little bummed lol I found out they also took the speaker boxes that hold my speakers in the rear
So now I have to buy those just to put speakers in the rear These are what they took out. I swear if a guy comes up to me and says hey I just sold that car you have my old mustang Im punching him in his face lol JK but I dont understand how someone could treat a car so bad.
