Default Question about Rockford Fosgate

okay so I had purchased a combo Amp and Sub from a friend for $250... I want to sell em (as a profit) to another friend...

Well we are having trouble figuring out why the amp is rated so low (and if we are missing something because of the 2channel setup)

Here are the speakers

http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/produ...5&locale=en_US

Decent Speakers...

And here is the amplifier

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ch+P200-2.html

200watts total?... I get more juice out of my MBX MB212P (per stats)..

Here's the link to my current setup

http://www.audiovideodimension.com/m...2p-p-2307.html

Though my amplifier is a single channel... what am I missing here... what's better?

1. Full Range frequency response vs. subwoofer frequencies only.
2. 4gauge input cable vs. little dinky 10gauge input cable
3. MOSFET power supply vs. transistors.

I don't see selling them for anything more than $250.00

I wouldn't pay more $250.00 for them myself and that would only be new... Used, most I'd pay would be around $180-200.

The PUNCH series is that lower end of the RF line.
You want the POWER series.
Grab a Crutchfield catalog and see for yourself....
The 40 Amp power fuse will support about 480 watts.
And the power output is rated at 11.8 volts, not 14.4
volts like the other amp that you claim would kick
the RF amps ****.

What you are missing is that the RFs specs are
real world and the specs for THIS amp are PEAK and not RMS.
You can ALWAYS tell from the power fuse size.
20 amps times 12 volts equals 240 watts
with 10-20 percent going up in heat.
You just cant put out any more than whats
allowed to come in via the 12 volt power connection.
10 gage wire at 12 volts DC is good for only 25 amps at best.
12 times 25 is 300 watts minus 10% for heat loss and that
translates to only 270 watts available to the subs.

Just go JL Audio and be done with it....

Wow! Nice sentiment, but your math is all wrong.

Class AB amplifiers are 50% efficient at best. The very best Class D amplifiers are 60% efficient.

Try the math again...

Oh... And almost forgot...
1. You can NEVER tell an amplifier's power by their fuse.
2. When you do the math for the fuse, multiplied by 50%, this is absolute PEAK, not RMS.

The fusing is for the peak, any amplifier may be smaller then it's fused peak.
