Default After market stereo install help!!

I have a 2000 Mustang with the Mach 460 sound system. Recently, the factory sound system died, and I decided to replace it with a more modern system. I bough a Kenwood KDC-MP345U system and tried to install it myself.

After buying a wiring harness "adapter" and studying the schematics, I began matching wire colors and splicing wires. Everything *looked* pretty simple, the speaker wires colors all matched up, and that only left the Constant Hot, Switched Hot and Ground wires; I feel pretty confident I got those correct as well..

When I plugged the harnesses up, it initially appeared to work correctly; the radio display came on and started scrolling; it told me the name of the CD I put in it, and.... No sound. None at all, nothing. No music, no feedback, no snap crackle or pop.

Could someone out there with more knowledge than me (most of you probably) about car stereos offer some hints on what I did wrong?

Thank You!!!

Ok, I had a look at that harness; it is very similar to the one I bought with one *teeny* exception; the harness I bought had no RCA jacks attached; just the flat Gray (power) plug and the more or less square black (speaker) plug. My stereo does have 4 RCA plugs on the back of it.

Assuming I found RCA cables to plug into the RCA jacks in the back of my stereo unit, where do they connect to the car wiring harness? And please remember, I already admitted I have functionally no clue what I am doing.

Thank you!!
