Default 2011 convertible sound system

Hi all,

I just ordered some sound stuff:
Audio control lc6i sound processor to clean out the factory HU signal (non-nav shaker 500)
Polk audio MM5251 components for the doors
Polk audio MM571 for the rear side panels
And Polk audio PA 500.1 4 channels amp to power all the 4 speakers.

I think am in a good shape as far as speakers but am not sure about bass. What would be the ideal setup for a convertible? Would a single 12" sub pared with a decent amp do the trick or do I need to have dual subs? My setup in my previous car was not that good for me (MTX enclosure with a Kenwood sub and amp)

Unfortunately local audio shops are not good when it comes to decent audio brands and building sub boxes. So am better of ordering the whole thing from the internet (Box + sub + amp)

Any suggestions would be appreciated please.
Am looking for good SQ and SPL if possible
Budget is around 600 $ but could be more if the setup is worth it.

Thank you and excuse my poor language as am not a native

I would go with a Kicker L7 12"sub and a ZX500.1 amp.

It doesn't need a big box. Go to the Kicker website so you could see the specs. You can stick it in the corner of the passenger side of your stang. Also look on ebay under Mustang Subwoofer enclosures. You should find a box that will fit in the trunk without taking to much space.

I was searching for sometime for a box that can fit in the cornem but could not get any that can fit in a convertible. MTX has a nice sub box that fits for 2005-2009 MY but am not sure if it fits in the newer model. In their thunderform site it says it can fit (http://www.mtx.com/thunderforms/p_32...2011/show.html). but going inside the item details site it says it does not. Am going to contact them and check.

Let me know what they say.

Your best bet is probably a JL Stealthbox but it is definately $$$$.

Edit: nevermind I just noticed they dont make one for 2010+ vert yet just the coupe.

This will take up a little more room but will sound great:

I'm probably going to do the 10" version in my 2011 coupe.

Pair it with a JL 500/1 or similar amp.(I'm going to use a jbl 600.1)

Just to update you guys MTX has replied that it will fit the 2011. But I need to specify in the order that it is a convertible as there is a fabrication change.
This is their reply:

Yes, it will work with the 2010-2011 mustang convertible. Just be sure to
Explain this will be for a convertible model because there is a modification
Required to the thunderform for proper fitment.

And when I asked for more details and if both have the same model # they have replied with this:

On Tue, Mar 22, 2011 at 12:03 AM, MTX <MTX@mtx.com> wrote:

The model# is the same for hard tops and convertibles. The modification is done in the fabrication process, which is why we need to know it will be used in a convertible. The modification cannot be performed after the thunderform is built, but as long as we know it is for a convertible ahead of time it will not be an issue.

I still don't understand what would be the mod required but if this is the case I would need to order it from MTX directly which is too pricy (they charge 350$ for the unloaded box while it is around 255$ in other stores)

I'm starting to like the idea of having two subs instead of one can someone post a picture of an s197 ragtop with a sub box.

Your going to have a hard time getting bass into the interior. The convertibles have a metal panel the separates the trunk. There is a little space where pump for the top sits, but still the trunk is pretty much enclosed. I put 2 Kicker L7 10"s and ported it through the metal panel with a 4"X12" cut out.
