For powering one sub you either need to use SVC to get the 4 ohm load from the amp or change one of them. This amp is too powerful for the sub and with a DVC setup you will be pumping 600 Watts RMS @ 2 ohm from the amp.

the reckfort website has a nice wiring wizard that will show you how to do the wiring. Here is the link http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftec...1&woofer_imp=4

Would this be a better choice of sub for the amp?

Power wise this would be a good match with the Alpine amp. If you connect it like option 1 in this link
http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftec...1&woofer_imp=4
It will create a 600 watts RMS load @ 2 ohms.
I am not familiar with the type R sound quality but based in the sensitivity I’d look for something that is over 90 dB.
As far as getting 2 ohms or 4 ohms subs, there would be no deference as long as the power is matching with the amp. Most of the mono Amps support 2 ohms load and some even support 1 ohm load. If you decide on either 2 ohms or 4 ohms the most important thing is the wiring of the sub to the amp so you get the correct load and impedance.
Here is a nice link that will provide you with good information on power matching and wiring.

I hope this helps.
