Sub suggestions
Hey guys, new to the forum but i didnt see much on the search about this.
Im looking at the MTX thunderbox w/ amp for my 2007 GTCS
does anyone have any reviews or input on this product. im looking for a lower end thump the shaker 500 just doesnt have (though it does the "shaker" part well)
if anyone else has any other suggestions also let me know.
maybe unpowered mtx box with a different amp?
something different all together.
budget is $600 tops
also witha sub can they re-manage the other speakers to be more specified and sound better. high seem ice picky when turned up.

I like the MTX, but Kicker has one out specific to the S197 that should be pretty darn good. I think they advertise seamless integration with OE stereo in 2011+. I don't know why it wouldn't be plug and play for 2005-2009.
I've always heard MTX are on the downside of subs, compared with other high end.
I'm getting dual 12" Alpine Type R's, Amp, and Enclosure for right around $500,
I don't see why any type of system would have problems going in with factory radios.
But an aftermarket HU improves your sound 10000% (Although that may not be true for a Shaker, I've never had one, so couldn't tell you)

Well, any prepackaged, single with integrated amp will be a compromise. What you get for the money is the best you can fit into that space. It's easy to exceed the sound if you accept higher price and have more space.
I used a little Kenwood amlified tube once that was pretty amazing. I think it was under $300 and had a 10" or 12" woofer on one end with a passive radiator on the other. It looked like a large old school lunchbox. Not especially space efficient, but pretty bad *** in an extended cab truck.

ok, i see a lot of talk about all the name brand speakers and subs on the market and there ok. but to someone that knows nothing about watage, rms and ohms like i was before i went blind searching the web it can be really confusing. just take a look at this place and you wont be sorry. i have two 7 inch dvc 350 watt rms from them that blow away 10's. good luck. http://elementaldesigns.com/
7's? That's hardly larger than my door speakers. I highly doubt you get very much bass out of that small of a woofer. You can get two kicker cvrs, a 1600 watt planet audio amp and a box for about 300 dollars. Add in 50, give or take for wires fuse, etc and its a bad *** system for the price.
i know, there not very big but no joke there bad. i have a kicker 12 in my truck, my wife has a pioneer 10 in her mustang. and the 7s kick both there butts. go check out the web sight. they have more that 7s and there priced nice sence they make them. look on there forums and see what people are saying about them.
