Default Advice for a rookie

I'm looking to upgrade the sound of the 06. Nothing to extravagent I would say a few steps above the stock. As of now I have the completely bare bones stock system, head unit two in the door and the rear and that is it, no sub or anything in the door besides the two speakers. My question is what would you guys recommend brand, size, etc., as specific as possible as I am clueless to audio components.
thanks

I recommend that you go to as many shops as you can and demo every speaker you can on the soundboard. While it is true that they will sound different in the car, chances are if they sound terrible on the soundboard, they will sound terrible in the vehicle.

If you are willing to spend about $1000-$1,500, you can get a really great sounding audio system. One of my favorites to do in those SN95 Mustangs was using this box from JL Audio that had two 10" woofers. It sounded great and took up very little room in the trunk. I've done many other types of enclosures in those cars, but 2 10's was always my favorite.

As these guys said, find a good reputable shop. Sometimes you can get good deals at Best Buy, but it's kinda hit and miss if you will get a good installer. JL, MTX, Kicker, Rockford, Audison, Arc Audio, are all good reliable brands. I personally favor JL, but that is mainly because I sold them for nearly 15 years and it's a product I'm very comfortable with. Look for shops that carry some of those brands and you'll be in good hands. If you go in looking for Brand X, they might tell you that Brand Y is a better choice for you.
