Sub and amp question
I installed a shaker500 head unit in my 07. It does not have the door subs or anything it's the most basic model so after I put inthe shaker500 I lost a lot of bass. I've dealt with it for a couple years now and today I noticed a guy selling a sub/amp combo for $65 it's nothing too special but the sub fits perfectly in the trunk with the box shape it has so I picked that up.
Now my question is since my car is the most basic model would I just wire this sub up to the place where the door subs would go in the shaker500 or what? Sorry I'm pretty dumb when it comes to this stuff any and all help is appreciated. I've got a buddy that's coming to hook it up but I just wanna know the gameplan before we do it

Examples:
Middle one here:

To the bottom one here:

Reverse harness part #: 71-5520-1
Normal harness part #: 70-5521
Radioshack RCA couplers - Model: 274-874 | Catalog #: 274-874
I believe these are the pin-outs, you will need to match the wires (or use this to wire the RCA ends to the correct wires coming out of the radio with just the reverse harness) to make the patch cable. This is for the Mach system, but the amp 8pin wiring is the same I believe:

i.e. wire pins 1+2(front shaker 500 subs), and 5+6(shaker 1000 rear subs) for the RCA's. So you only need to do the first one since yours is a 500 head-unit.

Thank you for the informational reaponse!
Which option would be the cheapest and which one would be the easiest? Any online places that have the part(s) for cheap? (eBay, etc)
If you can link me to which one is easier/cheaper I'd appreciate it!
& sorry for the questions but I'm dumb with this stuff. from my understanding of your post all I do is plug that 8pin wiring harness in and then wire the amp wiring kit to that?

This is separate from doing the amp install. This is just to get the mono sub line-level output from the Shaker 500 head-unit of yours. Which is why I say use RCA connectors, as the amp's input for low level (2.5-5v) are RCA, as should be the mono sub connection on it; which is also why the normal harness adapter has them as shown in the picture above.
Getting the mono subwoofer signal to the amp:
There are no factory amps to turn on in your case, so all that is needed is to get the low level signal to your after-market amp from the mono sub output of that shaker 500.
Your 2 easiest options are:
- Wire either crimp-able RCA connectors(female in this case so you don't need a coupler), or solder-able ones (which would be the better option) to the appropriate wire ends of the reverse 8 pin harness. Then run a standard RCA cable to the amp.
- The other option is to buy both the normal and reverse harness and wire the 2 together with crimp butt connectors, or solder the right wires together with heat-shrink tubing to make the patch cable. Then run a standard RCA cable to the amp with a coupler, or buy an RCA cable with a female and a male end instead of both being male ends.
Actual amp install:
The amp install wiring kit hopefully has sufficent gauge and length to be run directly to the battery, along with a fuse within a foot of the likely battery terminal connector. For the amp turn on you'll likely wish to tap either F4 or F6 in the SJB to get the amp to come on and go off at the same time as the head-unit, which uses this delayed accessory line.
The only 2 really viable normal amp install points are under a seat, passenger has more room, or to the back of one of the back-seats., which is the usual place most put their amp(s).
As to the cheapest place to order the parts necessary, don't know. Everything but the harnesses should be easily found at radio shack or most audio/video places with a decent selection. Harnesses, best buy, sears, or like a thousand places online including amazon and ebay. Can't think of any 1 place you would get 100% of what you'll need for this. And I tend not to comparison shop for these things.
