Default 1967 Mustang Sub Help

I'm looking to add a sub to the 67 coupe I just got my daughter. Does anyone have any photos of installations? I'm just wanting something to give it a little extra oomph without being too much.

Should the amp be mounted in the trunk or can it go under the rear seat? What about the sub? I have heard I should mount it facing into the trunk area instead of the back of the seat. I just installed a rear seat/trunk divider but I imagine that fiber board isn't strong enough to support either the amp or a sub. I don't want to give up a lot of trunk space for the sub. Should I mount the sub in mdf and cut a penetration through the divider for the rear of the sub to go into the area behind the seat? Should I mount the mdf so it is separated from the divider and give up some trunk space?

Maybe a tube type sub in the trunk? http://www.crutchfield.com/p_204BTA8...FH.html?tp=114

Should I look at a sub like this to go under the rear seat? http://www.crutchfield.com/p_777B8PT...PT.html?tp=114

I don't have a lot of experience with car audio equipment but I am pretty mechanically (and somewhat electrically) inclined.

I have never looked in the trunk of a 67 coupe but typically I get better sound when the sub is facing away from the seatbacks.

Can you back the seat divider piece with some 1/2 MDf to give it the strength to mount the amp to?

I think I can fit some mdf up in there. Should I cut a hole in the divider for the sub to penetrate into the back of the rear seat or should the mdf be offset from the seat divider?

I'm not sure that I can picture what you've got in mind but a subwoofer really should be in a box.

you will need a box for th sub as well as an amp unless you are doing what is called and infinite baffle design which is no better way to make a 12" speaker sound like an 8" with out alot of work...

I edited the links since I saw they weren't working. What is everyone's thoughts about the tube style subwoofers?

Another I saw was this one with a bandpass enclosure. How do these type enclosures compare?

If you just want improved sound you can use that powered subwoofer and put it under the front seat. It's not going to get you "boom" but it will add to the over all sound and save your trunk space. I have heard one of those in an F-350 King cab and it sounded pretty good.

I used Bazooka tubes for years and was always impressed with the output..i know somw like the boom and they aren't good for much of that..but sound quality was pretty good and getting the amped ones was a good choice..used one in a "68 mustang coupe for years ..mounted it acrossed the rear shelf ..corner loaded and it worked out well..hope this helps..

gtbilly, does it block much of your rear view on the package shelf?
