Default 2008 GT speaker blown

I have a 2008 GT with 35k on it. Recently my front speakers blew. I am thinking about putting a Pioneer double DIN in it to replace stock head unit. Has anyone does this ? Should I use a small amplifier for the speakers to prevent them from blowing again. Any advice is appreciated.

At least half the posts in this section are about doing this..
From the stickied FAQ at the top of this page (3rd and 4th down)

As to putting in an amp to control...How do you feel this would work better than matching with the RMS output of the headunit's to the speakers?

Which speakers are you referring to exactly? Is this a "shaker" system?

And, if you've actually blown them, as in they have a tear or the like then this isn't going to help anything now for those speakers. If it's the speakers that are the concern I'd put the money into replacing those. Fairly cheap to do, and factory adapters are usually included with the price at places like http://crutchfield.com.
