Default Question about speaker wiring.

Hello guys, was wondering if you can help. So I bought a radar detector for my 95 gt 5.0. It came with a hard wiring kit instead of the cigarette lighters plug. My question is what color wire on the wiring harness for the radio is the 12 volt power only when car is on? Is the the greyish blue wire on the grey wiring clip?

please let me no. Thank you!

I don’t know the answer, but it should be pretty easy to figure out with a volt-meter.
  • Set your volt meter to as close to 15 volts as possible without going under
  • Plug everything back together
  • Take a small safety pin and back probe one wire at the connector
  • Touch the negative meter lead to the negative battery post
  • Touch the positive meter lead to the safety pin
Do this for every wire in the connector and take note of which ones have 12 volts. Then turn the car off and re-check the ones that had power and see if they still do. Pick one that has power only when you need it to.

Don’t poke wholes in the wires. The wholes will just create vectors for moisture to get into the wires and corrode them from the inside out resulting in more problems over time.

Good luck...
