I have posted before about my overall displeasure of the Shaker system quality on my 2013, compared to the Shaker 500 that was in my 2006.
I was always content with the Shaker 500, and the Mach460 that was in my 2001....well, awesome! I wish Ford would get a clue and stop destroying stereos.
Anyway, I recently attempted to save some cash by going to a lesser quality shop and had them install a Rockford Fosgate P2 subwoofer and amp. Just a muddy, sloppy mess of bass and just overall sounds worse (if that is possible). I originally considered the JL Audio Stealthbox and amp, but didn't seem feasible to spend in excess of $1K.
Guess I should have though.
Just want to cry at this point.

 

I am not a fan of Rockford Fosgate amps or subs, they used to be great, then China bought them. I would go with a JL amp/sub combo with a custom box. I bet you would spend less than 1k. I have a 360 watt amp hooked to a W3 12" and it is as loud as I need, and louder if I want. I could see all those with install around $800. if you build the box yourself it would be closer to $500 with wires, you would just need the sub, amp, wires, and mdf. The stealthboxes are nice, but very expensive... more than I would want to spend. That is why I made my own.

Hi - actually I did not have anything replaced in the door.
Just had a subwoofer/amp installed in the trunk.
