Default Sub Woofer Question 10" or 12"

I am looking to add some bass to my 2000 convertible. I am 41yrs old and not looking to shake the whole car but be able to hear the stereo with the top down. I only want to install a single sub because I still want trunk space. Is a 10" sub enough? Or should I go with a 12". I am considering the Kicker since the rest of my speaker are Kicker.

Thanks for any advise.

Assuming the box is built correctly and paired with a good amp, you should be fine with just a single 10 inch woofer.

If you get a side mount "hideaway" box then you will still have 90% of your trunk space. The 10" and 12" boxes are the same size unless you request a larger/smaller box for air space.

I used to run 10" all my life, but recently went to 12" and I got to say I'm very happy with that decision. While 10s offer ever so slightly cleaner hits when listening to heavy/fast pace bass (ie heavy rock, metal, etc) the 12s offer more bass range and does seem to respond better. You can always tune it down a little if it's too much, but as it sits I think I've been turned to single 12" over single 10".
