Default input adapter? (for IPOD or similar items)

Here's the thing. I know many aftermarket radios have RCA adapters for input so i can hook up an IPOD or minidisc player to it. But does the stock ford have one? My GF has a 98 Mustang with the stock radio on top, and CD player at the bottom. I haven't looked at it yet, but i'm also a few hundred miles away from her now.

Does anybody know if there are RCA inputs or something that i can plug in directly (so it's reversible when she sells the car) into the radio (or CD player) so we don't have to use the ITrip? That thing sucks.

yep its the USA spec, ive got it on my stock mach 460 best thing you could ever buy for an ipod, they make one that charges the ipod as well and lets you control the songs from your dash. it took about 10 mins to install and i was taking my time, no splicing of any kind at all

"Sorry, none of the items in iPod & Portable to Factory Radio work with your factory stereo.

However, we may be able to offer other options."

Maybe i'm not searching the right terms. I typed in IPOD and got a bunch of FM modulators, but that's what i'm trying to avoid. I got her the griffin iTrip last year and it works pretty well in her room, but not in her car.

tcuallstar: do you have a number and/or picture of your item? I've done stereos in my cars before, and i'm okay when it comes to electronics. But i just can't seem to find what i need.

On my saturn i've got RCA inputs and outputs, and all i needed to do was get a dual male RCA to headphone jack, slap it in the input rca, and i can listen to whatever tickles my fancy. Though i don't use it because my stereo is an MP3 player already.

Thanks, Guys!

Not too familiar with IPods but did you look into getting an FM transmitter for it? I know that they aren't the best as far as SQ goes but it would keep you from having to wire anything up.

i have one. It only sounds decent if i hold it up to the front windshield or hang it off the antenna. Otherwise it's worse than listening to the radio. It sounds as if it's an AM station if we're using it.

I don't mind wiring anything up at all. I want something that sounds really nice though.

After an exhaustive search, I went to a buddy of mine who works at a stereo shop. He made a few calls, and turns out that one cannot be had for the 98 mustangs. 01-04 wasn't a problem to find though. So instead of using an iTrip, i'm going to hardwire an FM modulator into her car for her, and see if that works any better. if not, we'll just stick with one or the other.

I found one that said it would work with 95+ Ford radios, but after looking into it more, my friend said that that also would not work. It's the one on Sounddomain.com.

We'll just see if the FM modulator works. It's the Farenheit Elite EFM-1000, and it was free so i can't complain even if it doesn't work. Oh well..

But thank you all for your input!

check out this one.

It is a little steep in price. But can use three outputs. And FM Modulator wireless, or you can connect between the antenna and radio, or you can use an auxiliary port if you have one. Yo can also set it up so it is any easy use witout looking away from the road. And Harman is known for quality audio products
