Default Different part number head unit?

Hey guys, I’ve got an 02 v6 mustang with the Mach 460 stereo. The aftermarket head unit in it just doesn’t sound right with the Mach 460 and I know it would sound better with a stock stereo, and I happened to find one for sale for $25. However the original part number for mine was 2R3T-18C815-AA and the part number of the one for sale is out of a 2004 so the part number is 3R3T-18C815-KA. They look identical and I feel like it would work in my car, so is there any reason why it wouldn’t?

So update, put the new radio in and it sounds so good, as I’d expect the Mach 460 to sound of course. So that makes me wonder, what is the difference between those two radios? They have different part numbers but look and function identically. Why would this be?

It's good to hear it worked out for ya. I don't track how they assign numbers, but my guess it that there is no difference. Probably a model year thing.
