I have a 97 GT with the mach 460 audio. Do I have a small factory subwoofer in there? In the trunk there is a big plastic box up top... dunno what's in there...

secondly, where can I get a kit to install a sub that taps into the wire from the speakers...

thanks all

I dunno about the stereo system, but the second part of your question is pretty much "anywhere."

You need a LINE OUT CONVERTER such as This one or try eBay.

What you will find in that black box is two rear speakers and two tweeters. Plus attached to the box will be two amps. One on each side of it.

Also The new MTX amplifier line comes with these adapter pieces that basically do the exact same thing as a line out converter you said you already needed an amp so why not kill 2 birds with one stone. The sound quality is going to be the same as using the LO converter but it works.

Yeah damn good for stock, only thing that was even close to as good(94-00 era) was the Infinity Gold system that came in a few of the Mopars. Now you get Bose and Monsoon etc. system they sound incredible for stock.

I've heard a couple of cadalliac's with the bose system and it sounded really nice. Oh yea and my old 97 taurus sho had a nice mach system in it as well.

actually i think if you want it to sound really good go with an aftermarket deck and use rca's or if you want to use the fatory deck get a JL clean Sweep. MTX is a pretty low quality amp compaired to Arc/JL/DLS/ and so on. The Monsoon and Bose systems are some of the worst sounding factory systems out there. you pretty much have to gut them out completely to get them to sound decent. if you guys were in my area id show you my 91 hatch and you would hear something that sounds great.
