Where did you get that information. The only place that will tell you RF is some of the best is a retailer that does not carry anything higher end and really want your business (A place like Best buy) or a person that purchased their equipment from a retailer like previously mentioned. RF is not bad, thier older amps were bullitproof and incredibly underrated. Their new products are full of marketing hype and very little solid engineering. Look at the boards of the above amps in seights post, can you see then difference.

I will not tell you RF is bad, its not. The primary thing I will try to convey is that you can do much much better for the money. If you don't believe me, just remeber your spending your own money, I'm just trying to help you. I don't sell car audio, I merely listen to a variety of brands, have installed a number of stereo's, and really enjoy music. If you like what you buy thats great, but I have better for less dough!

i appreciate the advice, i really do. if there is something better for the money when it comes to stereos i wanna know what brands come to mind. RF is a huge brand around here along with kicker. i hear all the time of RF winning car stereo competitions and a couple friends say there is nothing better because they're so underrated. list the brands that you all feel is better quality/performance for about the same price...

My third post down is where you'll see some links to the comparison of a couple different 500 watt amps. And the difference is un-mistakable.
The thread Information/FAQ/Initiation is where you will find a comprehensive list of + brands.

Prepare to bring a new game to where-ever you live, you'll blow away what almost everyone has if you do a good install and get some good equipment in there.

I disagree. RF DEFINITLY made bullit proof amps back in the days of the punch 45-74-100 and after that the definitly had some problems with quality and reliability, as well as SQ in years after that. In the last 2-3 years I have seen them make a heck of a turn around in all of these areas and I can once again say that I could own some RF. Again there is always better out there but if you like it there is NOTHING wrong with it....

I will agree, old, old, old Rockford was reliable and great equipment. Times have changed and sadly other companies have shown that the primary car audio industry is a marketing game anymore, and to keep their big name and status they had to take the same move. Sadly.

See above. We are all on the same page here. I really like the look of thier new products, but its not something I can't get from a lot of other brands for less dough.

I think the new stuff looks killer............ Also let me say by new I mean the NEW amps that came out this month.

http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/produ...s.asp?cat_id=2

I was close to buying one of the 25-to-life amps a while back and still would if I came across the right deal. As for quality they had an article up a while back compairing the new 25-to-life against the original amps and the new ones killed them. Will they last as long? dunno.......

what amp styles do you like?
