Help..mach 460....
ok so the sound still works, but the volume isnt as loud as it should be and there is no bass..... am i wrong or would it not be the 3 preamps in the car? if so how much are they to replace and how hard is the job?
thanks guys
thanks guys
this could be just me... but in my experiance with the mach 460... if you are doing any sound work... ditch it all... and i mean ALL OF IT!!! rewire the speakers and get a nice aftermarket amp to power them... and id even change the mach speakers if i were you. Because in my experiance with my own mach... it's not at all worth it to try to work with the stock amps. Sure it may be expensive but it's entirely worth it once your done.
But if you decide to get them replaced, herb chambers ford in my area said they'd give them to me for 50 a piece... not a hard install. Idk what the layout it in a hardtop... but in my vert they're quite easy to replace.
Hope this helped, and im sure plenty of people will chime in.

he kept saying pre amps... but what he meant was FACTORY AMPS
it turns out that the previous installation in my car was... wrong. they had a high level output running into a low level input. si i had to cu the wires and modify the adapter harness, but all is well now. i got my cd/dvd/mp3 player installed and my lcd even works

If your head unit has front and rear pre-outs just go by THIS $15 thing and plug it in. Otherwise you'll need the gain control box. You DO NOT need to re-wire should it'd be a better way in the long run but you don't have to.
ok so i have a 02 GT witht he mach 480...
here is what the system is...
the front doors have 1 sub in each door 5x7 or 6x8 speakers, and also 1 tweeter on the tope of each door... the 2 speakers on the lower part of the door(subs) are run off the amp that is on the driver side of the car.
in the back of the car it has the same set up... 2 'sub like' 5x7 or 6x8... and 2 tweeters... all that is run off the amp that is on the passenger side...
both amps are located in the trunk mounted to the top of the trunk or the bottom of the "hat rack"
as far as the wiring for the deck...
there are 3 plugs...
one is for the tweeters which consists of ground/12v power/remote(ignition) and the postive and negitive for all 4 tweeters...
there is a second plug for the amps/sub speakers... there are 8 wires total... 2 constant, two remote, two ground, and 4 positive and negitive that you will have to convert to RCA plugs when you install an After market deck.
then the 3rd plug is for the factory CD changer... which i dont have hooked up...
If you go to your local stereo shop the will sell you a kit that will have all 3 plugs then all you have to do is figure it out...
If anyone needs help.. feel free to PM me and i will help you out as much as i can... i have mine all set up perfect...
I am running a Pinoeer Premier HU with XM... a pioneer amp for a 10" sub and all speaker function corectlly... it sounds amazing once its all set up right!
Hope i could have provided some help!
