MRP-T220 Alpine
Go with the 4 ohm subs, for some reason the amp draws more power to a 4 ohm sub, its rated at Max Power Watts per Channel (4 Ohms) 90 x 2; and at 2 ohms its rated Max Power Watts per channel (2 Ohms) 70x 2.... so go with the 4 ohms if you wanna stick with that amp, if you get a bigger better amp then you can go with the 2 ohm subs and they'll hit harder.... my guess is you wanna stick with the amp but those subs are 450 watts rms and your only gonna have 90 watts goin to each one, which wont do those subs any justice.... if you want a good system your better off goin with a bigger amp and the 2 ohm subs....

actually if i was u you i would get 4 ohm and bridge them to 2 ohm, this way your amp thinks they are 2 ohm and they hit harder.

Now looking at maybe a Kicker Solo-Baric S12L54 12" or a Kicker Solo-Baric S12L52 12". What would be the better sub and a decent amp to give them full justice?

what??? what are you talking about??? You cant make an amp "think" something is a different ohm load. plus they will hit harder in 4 ohms. Bridging the amp will run the amp at 4 ohms so if you wire your subs into 2 ohms your gonna fry the amp and/or blow the subs. If you must use that amp then bridge it and your running 140 watts rms into 4 ohms. Then you will have to get the Solo-Baric S12L52 because it is the only one that can be wired into 4 ohms. But really your amp is underpowered. Your running 140 watts into a 600 watt sub so your eventually gonna blow it. you actually need to overpower your sub so you dont distort it so id go with an amp that runs at least 600 watts rms.

Oh and a two ohm sub will NOT hit harder than a 4 ohm or 8 ohm sub. This is a myth brought on by the fact that an amp running in 2 ohms will generally push more watts than if it were to run in 4 ohms. But there are amps that push more watts in 4 ohms, it just depends on how the amp is made.

all lies.....underpowering has NEVER blown a sub. Clipping does the damage. you do not need to overpower a sub to stop distorsion...in fact overpowering, combined with clipping is the most deadly thing for a sub. the amount of power fed to a sub is determined first by manufacturer's recommendation, second by install, third by the amp. example: if kicker says a 12" L7 can take 1000 watts then that is simply your starting point in where you start to match an amp to your needs. second, that 1000w can go up or down depending on your enclosure, sealed boxes generally can take more power and ported boxes generally need less power to achieve the same output as a sealed box in comparison. lastly, the quality of the amp adds considerably to the effectiveness of the woofer. An audiobahn amp rated at 1000w will never put out clean watts around 1000 there it will start to clip or send square looking waves at the sub when in fact sine waves should look like nice rolling hills. if you look at clipping like an analogy, think of it as a pipe that water flows through. piping has a rating of gpm, if you surpass the rating of the pipe, it will put more than rated gpm but the water flow becomes eratic and not smooth at all. same thing as an amp--output becomes eratic and not smooth and leads to clipping. audiobahn is notorious for overrating their product so you may see the 1000 w but it will be pure square waves.
