Working for Best Buy sucks
So I am an installer for Best Buy and I keep getting cars that come back because the other two excuses for installers keep on #$%@__! ing things up like not putting connectors on ac controls, cigarette lighters and so forth, and not to mention that customers are you usually irate. Like today for instance.... Some kid comes back with his cavalier because he cant pick up radio stations and if any of you guys know what is going through my head, I am thinking some dip#$%^ probably didnt plug the antenna in and all you have to do is pull the radio out right? Wrong... you have to tear the whole damn dash apart to get the radio out. so I do it, and sure enough the damn antenna is just chillin all by its little lonesome. Any of you guys want to come down to Fl. to blanket party some shisty instalers?
Come on hookanpull, working for bestbuy isnt all bad.... its a good job if your young an still in school, but i agree they do need to be more careful on who they hire... especially in the install bay I can see how it can be confusing, the installers in my store do really good work and I work part time in car-fi so I know how crazy it can get with all of the installs an the dealing with anxious customers..... I can only imagine if your working with people who dont know what they are doing only make matters worse.... cant complain about the discount tho!!!
I would have loved to have a job installing car sterio's when I was in school. Heck if I could support a wife and 2 kids I would still like to. I just can't believe that the person that installed it didn't even check thier work out to see if it was all good before giving it to the costomer. I have done alot of installs for myself and alot of friends and I always double check my work before I put everything back together. But I feel your pain man, I was an Electronic's Technician in the Air Force for 6 years and I hated fixing other peoples mistakes. Just have to sit them down and tell them to get thier heads out of thier asses and do the job right.
I have my own weekend business as a hobby installing systems and neon for really cheap and i always triple check my installs then run everything 3 times to make sure everything is working so that I know and my customers know that they wont have any problems. Sometimes I do forget to do something and I may not catch it the first or second time, but thats why I do it 3 times. Thats customer service lol.
i already live in florida.
an my friend works for best buy. maybe being an installer sucks...but he likes his job...he works with the ipods and cell phones and stuff. he makes 8.50/hr and gets crazy discounts. hes saved me probably a good 200 bux in the time hes been there.

With every job you eventually have to clean up others mistakes. I know how much it can suck working in the bay, a customer comes in mad at you because their car doesn't work and you didn't even work on it. When you're having somebody else work on your car try and make sure it's at the most convient time so they don't have to rush. Take you car up there on a Monday and not during the weekend.
