Default satellite radio

Afternoon all,

Quick question. I think (along the way) that i was told that my car was setup for either xm or sirius satellite radio. I have an 04 gt with the Mach 460. IS this true or not, and if it is, what do i have to do to get the service???????

thanks

R

All you have to do is go to an auto electronics store and buy a plug and play set-up. Installing the antena is the hardest part of it but if you have any common sense you can do it. Put the antenna on your trunk, run the wire under the back seat, under the carpet along the door under the door sill, up the kick panel by the A pillar around the front of your dash and plug it into your plug and play receiver. This just a general install, if you need more details on things such as a FM Modulator, which greatly improves reception, wiring routes just send me an E-mail.....cstigger04@yahoo.com I will be happy to explain it in greater detail. I put a Sat system in my '05 and its great.

thanks for the answers, but I heard that the mach 460 is already set up for sirius. there is a SAT button the stereo itself. I might have to call the dealer on this.

Does it have the "Sirius Ready" logo on there somewhere? You could always pull it out and look for the connector too. It should be a round 13-pin plug.

no sticker on it about sirius, but everything that i have seen for specs have said that the 04 year mach 460 is "sirius compatible"

i am going to call the dealer when i get the chance.

this is what i have found so far, looks like you have to buy some module that connects into the back of the unit.

How much did the dealer want to install the kit? I heard it is expensive.

you have to buy a direct connect module. and from there you plug it into the back of your radio. You will still have to install an antenna to the best of my knowledge. but the brain that recieves your signal should cost around 99 dollars, and you also will not need anything thats fm modulated because its crap and you have a direct connection which means you dont need modulated.

Our dealer here was selling the sirius sportster to people that had the "sat" button and telling them that it was not set up for direct connect. The sportster is a portable unit so you can bring it in the house etc. I have yet to have a customer bring a ford to me to have me install a direct connect piece and the way I found out about the whole situation is because one of my customers had the same questions you do about his escape and this is what they told him..... Soooooo good luck! It seems like its just another marketing gimmick where everything says its satellite radio ready.

If you opt for something portable i might suggest looking into the new Sirius S50....
later,
Andy
