removing dash / wiring question
Hello all. Newb here, so take it easy on me. We just got my wife an 04 GT (auto) with the Mach 460. I’m looking to get a pro fit mount to install a Sirius radio, as well as a PIE adapter to feed the audio right into the SAT in on the factory receiver. So, I have some questions.
1) After looking thru the forums, Ive found some directions on removing the center dash, but I want to make sure I do it right. It looks like it pulls apart, but does anyone have good info on removing the center console/radio? I will need to pull the radio out to attach the PIE adapter. Ive read that you have to remove the console piece around the shifter (again its an auto), but I don’t want to break anything. So can anyone give me clear instructions on removing what I need, or have a link?
2) I would like to tie into a switched 12v to power the Sirius radio. I just got done doing my 04 Chevy Trailblazer, and it was a pain in the butt because of the databus system. What I would like to do is tap into the switched 12v going to the radio. Is this ok? The current draw will me minimal so im not worried about that, but I wanted to make sure that the electrical system isn’t all crazy like my TB.
Thanks.

To remove the console you must remove the shifter ring. You can do this with a flat-head screw driver. Just slip it under and slide it around and it will come off. Next lift up on the center console lid. There should be two phillips screws towards the rear of the console. Remove those and gently lift the console up starting from the rear and working your way forward. After the center console is removed you can remove the trim on the sides of the radio. Simply and gently pull back and they will release. After the side trims have been removed, the center trim will slide off gently. After that you're home free.
Easier than changing a tire.
