Default What supercharger?

Hey guys my name is brendan, im new to this site cause i just got a bullitt a couple months ago and ive started to do a couple bolt ons, intake, exhaust, etc... and now im looking to get a supercharger and i just wanted some input on whether you guys think its better to find a used one or save up longer and geta new one? im looking for a vortech or procharger system and could probably have enough to get a used one in 2 months and enough for a new one in 4 or 5.

if you can buy new i would, you wont run into broken or warn parts. personally i were to supercharge my bullitt i would go with a vortech s-trim.

I had the Vortec SQ-2 on mine and it was pretty quiet, even when I brought the boost up to 18-19 lbs. it was still quiet. On something like this I would only go NEW because you really don't know how the used one was treated, how many miles on it etc etc and the new one comes with a 2 yr. warranty but its your money, good luck.

Im bias, procharger > vortech...but its not like i have experience with vorteh to actually compare the 2 fairly. Thats how happy i am with it [8D]

Procharger are self contained units which means there self lubricating ive heard several people at the local shop excessive motorsports complain about them leaking, with a vortech you tap the oil pan and it runs off the same oil as the rest of the car, with a centrifugal ie. vortech/procharger you will have more top end, i plan on supercharging my bullitt this summer im goin with a twin screw kenny bell with the kb you get more low end. there more expensive but its all personal preference really at what you are looking for but hope this helps.

Tbh, the top end on a centrifugal supercharger isn't all that much better than a positive displacement types supercharger. Personally? I'd go with the Kenne Bell. This is what I originally posted on IMBOC.com in regards to centrifugal's top end:
Much of it will depend on your gear ratio. With 3.73 gears, if you shift at 6000rpms then you will be landing in at just over 3500rpms for the 1-2 shift, 4000rpms for the 2-3 shift and will be landing at 4500rpms for the 3-4 shift. So in 3rd and 4th you are actually just landing in the perfect spot for the Vortech. With that same gear ratio the KB is losing 1/3 to 1/2 of its boosted power band. In truth, it would come down to the driver, but I think that with equal drivers in a drag race the centrifugal should win.
Although it is far from a perfect comparison, if you look at the Speeding Bullitts page you will see that that of the top 10 fastest Bullitts, #2-8 are centrifugal and #10 is the only KB. A better comparison would be to look at drag racers in general. Most use a centrifugal.
But for around town, I think that a KB would be much more fun.
Well, look at the following dyno charts.
http://www.musclemustangfastfords.co.../photo_23.html - '03 Stock Eaton (14 PSI) vs same car Vortech (14 PSI)
http://www.musclemustangfastfords.co.../photo_22.html - '03 Stock Eaton (14 PSI) vs same car KB (14 PSI)
If you look at the dyno charts, you'll see that between 3500-4500 RPMs in a Vortech, it's only pushing around 275~375 HP, and the KB is pushing around 375~515 HP. Torque numbers at the same RPM range in the Vortech is around 370~440 lbs-ft, and the KB is around 580 lb-ft flat. Top end, the Vortech is BARELY better, around 720 HP vs 700 HP for the KB, and around 575 lb-ft vs 560 lb-ft for the KB. But how long are you gonna stay in the 6000-6500 RPM range? Even though the torque curve starts dropping off for the KB, it's still ALMOST as high as the Vortech, and as for the HP curve, the Vortech barely hits 600 HP at 5700 RPMs, whereas the KB hits it at 5325 RPMs. The facts are right there, you be the judge .

The same article, only with 11 PSI vs 14 PSI. (I'm just gonna copy what I wrote above, and just change the numbers accordingly.)

http://www.musclemustangfastfords.co.../photo_06.html - '03 Stock Eaton (11 PSI) vs same car KB (11 PSI)
If you look at the dyno charts, you'll see that between 3500-4500 RPMs in a Vortech, it's only pushing around 225~350 HP, and the KB is pushing around 350~410 HP. Torque numbers at the same RPM range in the Vortech is around 350~420 lbs-ft, and the KB is around 525 lb-ft flat. Top end, the Vortech is BARELY better, around 660 HP vs 630 HP for the KB, and around 525 lb-ft vs 500 lb-ft for the KB. But how long are you gonna stay in the 6000-6500 RPM range? Even though the torque curve starts dropping off for the KB, it's still ALMOST as high as the Vortech, and as for the HP curve, the Vortech barely hits 550 HP at 5700 RPMs, whereas the KB hits it at 5500 RPMs. The facts are right there, you be the judge .
---
NOTE: On the 11 PSI test, if you notice I compared the Vortech and KB at 550 HP vs 600 HP with the 14 PSI test, simply because 550 HP on 11 PSI is right around the same as 600 HP on 14 PSI (in terms of RPMs.) It's just a coincidence that at 11 PSI it hits 550 HP at 5700 RPMs, and at 14 PSI it hits 600 HP at 5700 RPMs. If I were to compare them both at 600 HP on the 11 PSI test, then the Vortech hits it at 6050 RPMs whereas the KB hits it at 6150 RPMs.
