I have to say I was pleasantly pleased in how the movies, the guides and literature dealt with the war and slavery. No one really seemed to judge but simply tell the story.
Yesterday we were in Yorktown (famous for Washington spanking Cornwallis, effectively ending the Revolutionary war and sending the Redcoats home)

More history, more old buildings, lots of actors/actresses in period costumes. The neat part is many were just walking the street and you could engage them in conversation about the revolution. Some were loyalists, some were rebels.
Bruton Parish Church, in use since 1715

The jail that held Edward Teach's men, a.k.a Blackbeard

The governor must have been JJ's ancestor, guns and knives everywhere

Gun and cannon salute to end the day
