Started seriously looking at a few Jeeps. The wife says, "as long as you aren't buying a motorcycle".

That's almost exactly what my wife said before I bought the Jeep. LOL

We were once the first to arrive at a two motorcycle accident (4 riders) in the country. One hit the other, no helmets...didn't end well, ambulance was 45 minutes away. That was when she drew the line on motorcycles.

Might try to take a peak at this one. Though it's right at the top of my budget and the low gears worry me a bit.

Not bad. The 4.88's with 35" tires shouldn't be too bad. Not a highway cruiser for sure though.

The 97-06 Wranglers are pretty prone to frame rot not sure about the earlier ones but I'd check it thoroughly just to be safe.

Frame rot or leaf springs take your pick. Though honestly I don't thing the yes fair all that much better, just that they've all been scrapped at this point.

Good to know about the new models. Kind of between a full on project and one that's pretty much done. Seems like a project that's decentis $3000 and something a whole lot better is around 6. Not sure...but it will be fun to look.

Was thinking on the 4.88s maybe go up to a 37" tire to, in effect, raise the gearing.

those gears would be really easy to deal with.

4.88 is alot better than 3.07 with 35s

I got my rust bucket for 3700, wasn't too bad to redo stuff.
