Default Send some positive thoughts......

Hey guys, thought I would post this on here (since I am pretty excited about it)....

Got the car out of the shop today for the new Posi unit and gear install and now all my noise and vibrations are gone, which means its time to head to the chassis dyno. I called them this afternoon and they told me to bring the car over tomorrow afternoon about 3 o'clock so we could strap it down and get the final numbers. Back in December, I began this process when I ordered a bigger blower and all the supporting mods to go with it. After the blower, I went ahead and ugraded the rear suspension and switched to a 1pc alum. driveshaft. I waited until I thought the car was "complete", and thinking I had it ready to go I made the appointement for dyno time a couple of weeks ago, but it wasn't meant to be as the posi unit and gear took a dump. Now that it is fixed, I will find out what happens tomorrow. Before I did any of the upgrades I made 553/568 at the tires last fall (with the stock blower and a few bolt ons), but my goal is to hit the 700RWHP mark tomorrow. So keep your fingers crossed for me and send out some positive thoughts... if she makes the number there will be joyrides for everyone!! Lol

Joy rides means we get to drive right? How did you put out those numbers previously with just bolt ons? Wasn't it rated for 500/500 at the flywheel?

Im not too uptight of a guy... once I meet the NC crew a few times, I got no problem letting a "responsible" driver behind the wheel as long as I am riding shotgun. She is completely tame until you mash the go pedal...really wouldn't know anything was done to it if you never went WOT.

As for the numbers, you are correct... the 07-09 GT500s were rated at 500 flywheel hp, and made around 430-440 at the tires completely stock. These cars respond INCREDIBLY well to a couple of simple bolt ons... with a custom tune, 110mm JLT CAI, and smaller pulley (2.6" vs 3" stock... 4psi increase) it probably picked up 90-100rwhp. When I added the 10% OD lower balancer (another 2-3psi increase) and off road x-pipe, then it made 553/568. That was running 93 octane and appx 17psi. I could have added headers and a TB, and possibly have gotten real close to 600rwhp, but that would have been a REAL expensive way to gain an extra 40hp. So I decided not to add either of those till I upgraded the blower..... I have done the TB now, but am going to hold off on the headers until I see what kind of numbers I get. I spent this evening putting in a fresh set of plugs and bolting on what I call the "big boy" pulley.... 2.5" that makes appx 20psi. I will try to hit my goal on 93 octane, but I do have a 100 octane race tune I can put in if need be.

I would get into so much trouble if I had a car like that. :-)
