Default H-pipe or X-pipe?

I've done limited amount of research on both types of pipes. My inclination is that I like an H-pipe without cats (with or without a muffler). What is everyone's preference and why?

I'm still running the stock H but I have read a lot of people saying that the X pipe has more of a raspy sound than the H

Can you pass emissions inspection with no cats?

Alan, of coooouuurrrrseee
95 doesn't have to be ran on the machine, so it just depends on the person who *ahem* inspects it.
I had an 89 last year and she was no cats and ended with a gutted flowmaster(no pipes after the muffler). Got her inspected just fine.. but she wasn't so fine herself after inspection. Turned her off and she was dead! Starter went and then the problems piled on!

Jeff, I've watched several videos of the X pipe and the raspy sound doesn't appeal to me. I like the deeper sound instead. To each their own.

I like the off-road x-pipes. They sound ANGRY, and make a little more power than the h-pipes.

I prefer an X-pipe cause of that loud growl.. But h-pipes do have a bit of a lower tone to them i think.

Yeah they do have an angry sound but the pitch seems to rise when the car is accelerating.

I just switched from an alumized O/R H-pipe to a Stainless O/R X-pipe on my 2011. Surprisingly the x is a little quieter but has a higher pitch.

i want to get some mid pipes too, im thinking on going with the offroad as well, i have the roush axlebacks, but idk if it'll sound good lol, im leaning towards the H because i heard an OR X on a GT, and that thing is just way too loud and raspy, and the H has the low rumble, but each to their own (;
any help is appreciated
