Default Looking for Insight/Help/Suggestions

New to the forum and just got my first mustang 10 days ago. Its an 88 lx 5.0 and i picked it up knowing it had an exhaust leak but otherwise mechanically sound. Well about 4 days after having it home i noticed that it was leaking some oil. Not pouring but just 2-3 drips a day. I looked under the car the other day to see if i could find the leak but didn't take much time looking and assumed it was a rear main. while under it i noticed a connector hanging down that wasn't connected. looked for a while and couldn't find the other end so i didn't pay much attention to it as the car runs fine and all electronics work. i found the other end today and plugged it in and noticed no change except the check oil light came on the dash. so i pulled the dip stick and it seemed a little low so i pulled into advance and put a quart in it. well when i left advance the light didn't come one so i figured it was just a little low. well i got home and parked it but had to go move it so let some one out, when i cranked it up the light came on again.
IM clueless and any help or info would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Did you trace down where the wire went you connected? It sounds like the circuit or Oil sensor is bad and the PO fix was to disconnect it. Though usually that causes the light to stay on. Can you call the PO to see if this happened before?

well come to find out it was really low on oil. when i checked it last i guess when i pulled the stick out i rubbed the sides or something and the level looked fine. changed the oil today and maybe 2 to 2 ½ quarts came out. filled it back up and its good to go thanks though.

Thanks guys.
Plan on getting some headers and an x-pipe w/ 40 series here pretty soon. any suggestions on brand for either? Long tubes or shortys? don't need equal length right now won't be building this motor much more than exhaust, tune, and maybe a 150 shot.

sounds good.

i was thinking the bbk long tubes with a bbk x-pipe and flow master 40s with turn downs before the axle. The bbk stuff is a little high but i would rather pay a little more for quality.
