well i downloaded photoshop 8 and i got some questions. i started making a document, and when i try to open a pic to put in it, it just appears, replacing the sig i was working on, rather then opening up next to it. wtf? photoshop>me

i dont no? im making a sig for another site with several layers. i go to open a pic to make another layer, and it just appears where the sig i was working on was. i can go back to the sig by finding it in the window button. i cant have more then one window open, to drag a pic into the sig, thats my problem.

You have to open a new file and paste the picture there, edit it, then copy and paste it into the sig, and resize as necessary.

alright heres what i got.


its not great, but i still need some help. how do i add a border to the white box around the name, and a border around the whole thing. the tutorials arnt helping much, they have red x's?

nice job. looks really good for a first timer.

to add a border:

select the area with the selection tool, then go to Select > Modify > Border

to add a small sharp border, use 1-2 pixels, for a softer more hazier border with lighter edges, use 3+ pixels.

then select which color you want to use by clicking on the little color icons in the toolbar, then go to Edit > Fill

thanks but whenever i select a layer, such as the white rectangle, modify is not an accepted option when i hit select? maybe im doing it wrong, is the selection tool the arrow head in on the middle left hand sideof the box?

try rasterizing that layer...it might be for some reason u used the line tool and made it that big? or something else but right click that layer and see if it has the option of "rasterizing type" if it does do that then it will act as a layer that u can modify.
