you can get a free version called photofiltre at photofiltre.com and do basic chops. thats what i use. but im getting photoshop for christmas cus its too lame now
oh and photofiltres site shows you how to do stuff

looks good. just keep in mind we have a size limit (500 pixels wide by 250 pixels tall). since this IS a car forum, you should try to emphasise your car more than anything else. dont let the car take a back seat in your signature.

 

here's a quick sample of something id do as a background for something like what you posted. you can keep it simple like i did, or you can add to it with other stuff. obviously because of size limits though i would make it smaller if i was going to put something in front of it.
