I downloaded some freeware for photo editing to try to make my own sig. The main thing that I can't figure out how to do is to crop a car or another picture from a picture and just crop that out and paste. Mine is always uneven lines around what I'm cropping. Can you suggest some of your methods on how you do it. Thanks

what freeware did you get? some of the free photoediting programs aren't that great, but there are a few 'gems' out there. the most 'advanced', 'free' photoediting software i know of (and it has been tested by cnet) is GIMP; it's apparently like an earlier version of photoshop. i am using photoshop 2.0 and, if i remember right, tombo is using photoshop cs2.

anyway, my suggestion for getting 'smoother' lines, is to zoom in on the subject (in this case the car) so you can follow the lines of the object better, and use the polygonal selection tool (in photoshop anyway) to select around the car. just take your time when selecting around the subject. when you want to 'build' an image, like a sig, the most important thing to do is to use layers; like in tombo's sig, the 'real' background (which is the color of the forums) is a layer, the pic background is a layer, each car is a layer, and your username is a layer.

overall, just take your time and practice

Thanks. I am using GIMP. I am going to practice on my sig and see what all I can come up with.

Hey Zach333, do you think you could make me one like your last one only w/ the Tulsa, Ok background (you can find them on Google)? And then put my forum name to the side like yours? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, Q

I think it will be worth it though. I have a brother that can get quite a bit of the body metal and the labor for a discount through his company. Also, I am going to keep the 6 cyl. until I get everything else done on the car. That includes the rear end upgrade, breaks upgrade on the front, suspension, and all that other good stuff. I appreciate you working on my sig and for answering my questions.
