It would still have be a ford or mercury like a torino or a cyclone. I always like the fastback roof and the simularities to the mustang.
Or maybe pantera, or a gt40 if you really have the bucks...

Before deciding on a Mustang, I was looking at a Factory Five Cobra kit. The only reason for the change was a back seat in a Mustang, since I have a 2 year old son and a wife.
