At the moment, mine is sort of oily with road grime build up.

One of these days I will probably paint it either black or silver...really haven't thought that far ahead.

Mine had a leak until recently so it might actually have a redish oily tint coated in grime.

I'm rebuilding my 4-speed toploader in another month so while its stripped out I'm having the entire thing Powder Coated! I'm thinking Mirror Black. It's bolting onto a new Lakewood SPI bellhousing thats Red in color.

What color were they originally? I just painted mine the same Ford Corporate Blue I painted the engine. My Lakewood bellhousing is red though.

Mine was I think Corporate Blue originally, till we found the puddle under the car on the rack and the cracks in the housing. It was rebuilt and using a different housing was painted flat black.

Looks better flat black to me.
