Well , here in South Florida people love classic cars but most of them don't want to own them , i guess because the insurance hassle and the constant TLC they need.We do have a great climate but you have to be on top of it , specially if you have a daily driver because the salt, pollution, heat, etc. I heard about a local mustang club in South Miami but it's mostly new school and it's near the falls about 1 hour from me , i live in Hollywood. I live in the area about 14 years now and haven't seen many 60's mustangs in all that time and most of them are owned by retired or semi retired guys who take them once or twice per month, that's why i ended up buying mine from a seller in NY because they are such a rarity down here. The only place we have a cruise night every week is at the tower shops every friday from 6-9 p.m. and is over 500+ cars but is all mixed with all kinds, brands ,new school, old school together. In the classic car section you probably see about 2-3 dozen cars and if you are lucky ,maybe 4-5 mustangs (1st generation mostly coupes and convertibles) and once in a blue moon , a fastback like mine. It's hard to find some decent shops/mechanics down here that actually know mustangs but i know at least one (Mustang Marty -Dania and he works out of his house) and everyone pretty much do his own thing, never seen a guy under 40 like me with a 60's mustang as daily driver , but i still have my fun .I am planning to start a local mustang club later with a buddy of mine who bought and is doing a restomod coupe and after saving the money for several years and buying my car i enjoy every second of it.

Well here we have a cruise in once a week from around the end of March till the first of October.

There are 2 mustang clubs in town.

Classics galore of all different makes and models.

Oh and we're having a small show next month at Barbers

My brother ran into Chip Foose at the Detroit Airport last weekend btw and he does some work for Ford.

He asked Chip if he was coming and got the response he will probably be there for Ford.

From where I'm from, just south of Chicago, we don't have any Mustang clubs that I know of, but in Joliet there are cruises all the time and in Tinley Park every friday there are impromptu car shows that draw in probably 50 or so cars.

Well that was before I went off to college, I haven't had a chance to check it out since I got back

I know that Long Beach is technically LA county, the the cities of LA, BH, WH and SM are pretty dry. Long Beach has a constant marine layer, doesn't it? Anyway, we both don't get rain or snow, so cars last a lot longer here in So Cal.

Well my car came from more central california for most of its life I think, I have to look at the bill of sale again. I was just joking because my car is an all-california car and had some pretty bad rust

and LB might have a marine layer in part of it, like around the port, but where my house is in LB it is pretty dry/like everything else. LB is a huge city

Ah, yes, I forgot that there's more to LB than the marina. We basically have the same weather, considering you're only ½ hour south of me driving.

The CA central coast is a wet place. Farm country. LA county is way dry. My car lived in Glendale for the first 22 years, then here in SM for 19 years. Since 1969, it's never been in a garage, and has only seen 800 rainy days and no snow except the week I drove to Tahoe.

One of the most attractive parts of having a classic Mustang in LA is that it's quick around town, can jump on the freeway with little effort, and parks easily anywhere. It's a great var for a densly populated city with freeways. Also, the retro look of an old car works in Hollywoodland where everything looks like a movie backdrop (actually it is). Mustangs will not only be collector cars here, they will be drivers here forever.

In Kentucky you only see any old cars if there is a car show rest of the time they are parked in a garage.
