Just wondering what you guys think about using the new electrical system from Littelfuse, thats been shown in the mags and at the 2008 SEMA show? It's called ISIS and it uses 1 mastercell module and 2 powercell modules linked via a cable. Switches hook to the mastercell and the load(lights, wipers, heater, etc.) hooks to powercell. The website is: http://www.isispower.com/. My project is a 67 coupe that will be using a DVS modified 2004 Cobra IRS and a RRS Stage 3 front suspension which are 21rst century. The ? is whether to use a tried and true Painless harness or something that is also 21rst century. Costs for the ISIS will be more than the standard harness from Painless but that doesn't matter too much. The wiring with ISIS will be much simpler and easier to add future upgrades(power windows, locks, etc.), at least this is what they say. What do you think?

IMO painful wiring is just that.

I would rather go with www.ronfrancis.com or www.centechwire.com

The I2 system is excellent! Many of my friends on the ffcobra forum have used them since the original introduction several years ago. Easy to install and upgrade and practically trouble free, but a little more challenging to troubleshoot.

I'm not sure why Dennis doesn't like Painless, they are my personal favorite. In fact these days, when you compare everything most (other than I2) are pretty much the same. Painless have by far the best instruction manual and you should download it from summit racing even if you don't use their harness.

not to hijack or anything, but JC67 I can cut you a deal on a brand new Ron Francis 65'-73' complete wiring kit. Bought it for my 65, but am not going to install it. Still new in box. Part #XP-727

Pretty much all custom/aftermarket full wiring harness have all the wires for stuff like power windows doors locks etc etc.I have seen that system before but looks like a real pain if you have to trouble shoot a problem. The cobra irs is a ford copy of the jag irs out of the 60s.For the front i would use tcp or globalwest not a fan of the strut on spindle design it hurts handling.

addHey boys thanks for the input. I looked at the Ron Francis stuff and that does look like a great product. MasterLow, I couldn't find the Kit XP-727 on the Ron Francis website but if it is the AC-67 I may be interested. andrewmp6 I should have talked to you sooner about the Cobra IRS. It is however already paid for and installed. Somehow I got onto the "svtperformance" forum and got a ton of info on the IRS. There are diehards on both sides of the IRS/straightaxle question. If I complete this 67 cpe and sell it I plan to do a 66 fstbk and I will use the straightaxle. I will seek approval from this forum first however. The question concerning troubleshooting with the new ISIS elect. system was brought up a couple of times. According to the ISIS website that is supposed to be the beauty of this system(troubleshooting is easy), so they say. Any way thanx all for your input. It actually has shown me an option or 2.
As an aside I have a short tale for MIL1ION (Dennis I presume). My mom lives in Canada in the summer and in the desert of southern Utah in the winter. Before she goes to Canada she stops by our local bank here in American Fork Utah and gets them to give her all the Canadian coins they have collected over the year. Loonies, Toonies, and all the other denominations. Usually about $50 Canadian every time. I've thought about it. You could probably do this at 100 banks in the US and come away with a ton of $.
Peace, guys. Sorry about the long post!

Really no irs is a new design they just keep copying one over and over but updating it.the c5 and c6 corvettes are the only odd ball ones they are a trans axle. The cars suspension has not changed much in the last 50 years. At one point a irs was great even ford almost made the early mustang have one from the start but changed there minds.Today only thing a irs has over a straight axle is smoother ride a 3 link straight axle set up right will out handle a irs.But if you want a irs go for its your car.The ISIS looks like a good system on paper but i wouldn't use it on a daily driver maybe in a few years i hate being a lab rat for companies.
