65 gt exhaust trim rings
Quite a timely thread, I am considering a couple options for the original rear valence on my formerly 6 cylinder 67'. I am caught between cutting out the dual "cutouts" from the bottom at the appropriate place or adding cutouts for the exhaust like the 65-66's and adding the 65-66 trim rings. I have already smoothed and removed the back up lights, which will unclutter the panel and put the focus on the duals out the back. Can anyone measure the vertical and horizontal dimensions for me on a 65-66 panel so I can get an idea of the size? I would appreciate it. If anyone else has done this mod to a 67 please post pictures if you would so I can see what it looks like when finished. (The brackets below are not welded on, I was brainstorming to see what a boxed license plate holder would look like and if it could strengthen the lateral strength of the valence)
You can buy a 64-66 rear valence with exhaust cutouts but no backup light cutouts from CJ Pony Parts for $34. http://www.cjponyparts.com/product.asp?pn=V1RD The panel is about 9" x 58" (rough measurement) It looks like this:

Will a 64-66 rear valence fit on my 1967? I thought they were different sizes.
I just got my CJ order today, a really nice Ron Morris X member for my T-5 and a front bracket for my console.

Still considering these on the backside they have 2 studs and and a pin or 3 studs? Are they more of an oval than a circle? I want to use them for trim rings on some fog lights, weld a tube to the inside, sort of like the fogs on the 2007 shelbys.
