I like the look of the flat black stripes. I would also recommend painting.

Flat or satin, I think they will look good as a ghost stripe. I would paint the stripes first and get them right as flatteners act different each time (in enamels). Clear coats are different and should be more consistant. You may very well be able to use the same base with satin and gloss clear to achieve your goal. I have never have used a clear with a satin finish, but have seen great results from others. I would not even consider decals. Good luck.

i think satin will look better than flat black, right??....whats a ghost stripe??? i have heard when you use a satin/flat paint that if you rub the paint that it will become glossy....is this true?? can you put some sort of coat over the top to prevent this??......i live in atlanta

a ghost stripe is where you take a panel say black and add a pearl to the paint for stripes flames etc then you clear the entire panel...this gives it a ghost look its a different color but its very subtle

you dont want to polish flattened paint it can make it shinier

If you are doing the car for yourself and don't plan on selling anytime soon, I would do what you want. For resale, I would say that the flat black stripes may not be everyone's cup of tea and narrow future buyers.
