Hey Andy, a fullsize car was like the LTD, Biscayne/Bel Air, Catalina, Bonneville, Polara, Fury, etc. Midsize cars were the Torino, Chevelle/GTO/GS/442, Roadrunner/GTX, Charger etc. The Nova and clones, along with the F body that shared a suspension were a smaller class of cars, more affordable with a much smaller back seat. They are more like the Fairlane, Falcon, Comet, and the Mustang/Cougar than they are the GTO or Torino.

I dont get too wrapped up in what is a muscle car or what isnt, most people seem to think its the midsize with a fullsize car's engine. GM had a limit on the displacement for the midsize at something around 330 ci until John DeLorean and his band of miscreants stuffed a big car 389 in a Tempest and made the GTO. It was the same year that Ford was dropping 427 side oilers into Fairlanes. GM was in danger of being broken up due to how much market share they had in the auto industry, so they limited what they would do, whereas Ford did not to a certain extent.

If it goes fast and has a V8 I like it. No need to nit pick a term that someone thought up to sound badass and racy back in the 60s. Call it what you will.

You can ask 20 people what a muscle car half of them list the mustang and camaro.A true straight answer is hard for what is and ain't.You ever seen the super duty Pontiac's or the 66 belair 427 gm was good at making drag cars so was ford and mopar too.I use to have a 73 nova with a 454 and m22 i kinda miss that car it was fast and the whine from the trans most thought was a blower.

I would kill someone to get a 62 SD 421 Catalina 2+2... or a 64 2+2 would be awesome... That would make a very nice cruiser for the kids and me. More room than the GTO.
