fastback roof
Yes you can! See the pictures below...my car was once a coupe. Andrew is correct however, it is much better to start with a fastback. This is not something that can be done in the back yard. There are at least a dozen parts that are not reproduced that you will spend $2-$3K+ and a lot of time trying to wrestle up. In the end too, having the car a conversion will reduce the value for resale, if that is a concern. Since I was building a replica of a GT350, it didn't matter to me that this car was created from a coupe. I picked this car up with the fastback top on, but not all the pieces are there and the car basically needed a total restoration. All the seams were fiberglass sealed and all the internal welding completed. From a metal standpoint, this car is identical from a factory fastback. There are a few brackets for the fold down seat that I did not put in, since the car is using a rear package tray that I fabricated, but besides that they are identical and equally as strong mechanically.

Here is a picture where you can see where the top section of the donor fastback was attached to the coupe body below. This rear panel was completely reworked as it was not shaped correctly, due to a few prior accidents.

Here is a picture that shows the progression of the panel:

yeah,i kinda thought it was possible. i have accses to a '66' fastback,it's been sitting in the same spot since 76, he wants 250.00 for it, we worked at the same coal mine a while back, anyway belt line down it's sorta bad but roof-glass-rear decklid are good to go. are the doors different if so what else is different besides the obvious, pics ? BTW your car looks fantastic, i usta watch'em beat hell out of the comeros at summit point raceway. thanks for any info
Another point to look at is the vin says if its a coupe or fastback and the fastback will always be worth more. You will need the whole car the roof the door glass the back window the trunk. The back half of the interior is different also.
If the car is complete, even if rusted it is a steal for $250. The doors are the same, the glass is different. And while you can buy reporduction door glass, it is expensive and I have not seen the window frames that hold the glass reproduced.
Some of the interior and exterior trim pieces are also not reproduced, so again if the car is complete and you can get it for $250..its a bargain.
Post a pic if you can.

I'd like to see a few pics of the fastback as well. At 250.00 bucks you could simple buy whatever sheetmetal you need and replace it easily enough. Even rails are cheap to buy for those who can weld and take measurements.
Someone offers me a 60s fb for 250.00 locally it would be back at our place that day lol.

$250 is a deal!
I've been considering hunting for a wrecked fastback that is intact from the roof to the rear. I wonder how probable it is I could find one at a good price?
One of Georgia's biggest salvage yards is about an hour from me, maybe I'll check out there sometime.
