Default Does this sound like a 255 or a 302?

Were all 302 built in 1980 actually 255's? I bought a 1966 Coupe with what appears to be a 1980 302. I can't tell if the motor is actually a 255 because it has an aftermarket Edelbrock Pro Flo EFI intake, and I haven't taken the Heads off to Measure. I think the 255's put out crap for HP. The car was Dynoed and shows 185 HP and 223 ft-lbs, both to the rear wheels. The car is said to have a high lift cam (Don't Know the Numbers), and stock heads. Besides Exhaust and MSD ignition, does this sound like 255 numbers or just a mild 302?

Casting # is E0AE D3C

Thanks

I doubt a 255 could make 185 at the wheels, cam or not, and they made plenty of 302s in 1980.

post pics of said motor. it will make it 999999999 times easier to tell you, especially if the dress ups are original.

Once I figure out how to actually post the pics, I will. Do you need to post via photobucket? I can't seem to find a way to quickly attach them.

I just pulled an engine out of a van that has the same exact numbers. I called summit racing tech support, 1-330-630-0240 and they told me it was a 1980 302, no doubt about it, but because of the firing order on mine, it had been rebuilt to become a HO 302.

Photobucket is an easy way to do it.
Also if you look in the "Additional Options" while posting you will see a "Manage Attachments" bar. Click it and then click "Browse" to find the picture on your computer. Then upload!

I personally don't bother with attachments, I just use tinypic.com
