New heart for stang, New Project
I actually have the title backwards: I bought a new project so the mustang motor will go into that and I ordered a new Ford Racing Long Block from CJ Pony in PA, Free shipping and no tax, woo-hoo.
Anyone here have experience with the Ford Racing 306 Long Block. I read the article in Classic Truck magazine where that motor showed 350 HP on the dyno. That is good enough for me, I dont need a Fire breathing motor just a reliable cruiser.
We will be taking out the C4 as well and transplanting it into this.
Here she is the day we brought her home.

And then a few weeks later as we started to get her ready for paint.

And the engine bay where the old heart of the mustang will go

And on her way to the body/paint shop

And the donor.........

I will keep you posted....................

If you look through the Comet windshield you can see my friend 1970 Boss 351 that he just finished, concourse.................85k ouch! He lives in Illinios, it is already back in IL, he built it for his daughter, I think he may be keeping it now that it is done,

Well here are a few progress pictures, this was at the painters while in primer

And now back from paint.....

The heart transplant for the mustang is just now starting,...........due to to money being a little slow lol. But now I am moving forward with the new motor, I went with the Weiand Stealth Intake and a Holley 670, a 70's style water pump ( for cross flow rad) an MSD ready to run ignition and a manual 5 speed, as well as a Ford 9 inch From Bill Thompson Enterprises with 3.70 gearing. I have not quite got the old motor out of the stang, it should be out this week, I am stil trying to decide whether or not to go with a manual rack and or which one to go with, I have newer pics but havent downloaded them from the camera yet, i will try to get them up tomorrow,

ya, gonna be fun. I find 350HP at flywheel is exactly what you want on one of those .. i'm very happy with mine and I might be anywhere between 300-350. there no excenter installed for fuel pump? have a check for it. It's so much easier with manual fuel pump instead of electric. I had a few hickups with electric (wrong position etc). maybe it's just blocked for transport ...
INTERESTING....just told a car friend yesterday..... I had considered a 63-5 Falcon for my daughter with trinkets of course! Since my dad didn't give me a 69 Mach I in high school ...my coolest car was a super fine 63 granny car we converted with 302 /4spd out of a wrecked Maverick Grabber. Heck back then a 69 Mach I cost more than my dads house. So i was am pleased today to appreciate having been forced to work on my stuff.
