I recently rebuilt a Chevelle where the owner bought almost everything "new aftermarket" for the car.... which leads me to my opinion, if your original parts are SERVICEABLE, keep um and use um, I am NOT impressed with the fit, functionality, durability, and overall quality of any of the aftermarket parts purchased for this car.

My advice is if you must buy aftermarket, don't buy on price, try to take a stab at VALUE.

That said, I would not change my hood hinges for the "benefit" of gas cylinders, I hate those things, the one consistent issue with these is that they stop working after a period of time, even the OEM ones, aftermarket gas cylinders? I don't even want to think about their life cycle... IMO, this is NOT an upgrade....

Nothing quite like trying to work on a car when the hood keeps closing on your head,,, JOY...
