Default 65 coupe Newbe

I am looking for help with my new ride. 1965 red coupe, 289 2b auto trans. The car has 2 different sets of hub caps how do I know witch ones are the stock ones. Question 2 where can I find out the colors under the hood. air cleaner, valve covers ect. Where is a good sorce for a new carpet kit?

Welcome aboard Chris. We would need to see pics of the hubcaps to see what you have, do you know how to post pics? We like pics anyway, especially with a new member/new car.

The color under the hood should be body color red but basically overspray, it'll just be flat as the factory just gives it a quick spray and no clear I believe. Valve covers/air cleaner I'm not positive on for '65 but I think they were gold, hopefully a '65 expert will chime in.

Carpet kits can be had from any mustang supplier, go to their websites and order the free catalogs, they are a great reference and an easy way to compare prices. My favorites are NPD, Mustangs Unlmited, Virginia Classic Mustangs, but there are many others.
Great game last week.

I've also had good luck with CJ's Pony Parts. If you are in MD stay away from Maryland Mustang. They are 10 minutes from my house and I only use them if it's an emergency.
Funny how some people treat you like you are interrupting their day as you try to give them your money.

You will need a hosting site like photobucket or flickr, etc. there are many and they are free. Once you upload your pics to a hosting site you copy the URL/ direct link and paste it in the 'insert image' box. When you type a reply or start a thread the instert image link is the picture of the mountain with the sun over it. Clicking that button will give you the box to paste the URL into.

Those are the correct hubcaps for a 65. Looks like a decent car! Welcome to the site.

nice 65! Chances are that is not the original motor in the car.

1965 engine colors:
- 289 valve covers Gold Duplicolor 1604
- 289 air cleaner Gold Duplicolor 1604
- 289 block, heads, intake, oil pan gloss black Duplicolor 1635 (semigloss black)

Be live this ,this car is in fact a one owner car and I have every Ford Dealer recipe that was ever issued to the owner (they came in a box in the trunk. The car has 126K on it and her husband owned the Ford dealer ship in Fresno I guess. I am going to go through them and put them all in order to see what all has been done. I cant do much at home until after I give this to my wife in Oct, tell then it will stay at the shop.
