Default HELP!! OVERHEATING!!!

Help! My Stang is overheating. Changed thermostat. Still over heating.

Could it be a bad thermostat? Water pump doesnt sound cooked? Should I run it without a stat and see if that helps? ( ps. the car is just idling in a driveway. I'm not driving it.

Thanks in advance!

the fins may be clogged in the radiator, pull it out and take it to get pressure tested

the car has sat for many years. I was hoping the t-stat would solve it. I also changed the heater core recently.

It was leaking coolant from the cap. I squeezed upper hose, and it seemed like the was no coolant in it( like stat was still shut).

Remove the cap, fill the system, start the engine and wait for the thermostat to open. Do you see coolant circulating?

I'm betting your radiator is clogged with rust and scale from sitting dormant for a long time.

Does it run cool when you drive it or just when it is sitting?

It has been sitting in a driveway for like 10 years. It seems to run okay for like 15 minutes, then warning buzzer starts going off, and then coolant started leaking out through the cap.

Just asking are you sure you put the stat back in the right way?
