Hi from INDIA
Hi all,
I am restoring my 2nd Mustang here in India. First was a 69 Conv. with 302 auto. Was in Ok condition. had to rebuild part of the body as it had rusted, painted it dark green. Got all my parts from NPD, top, trim etc no performance stuff. It gave me some problems ie handling, shifting etc. So I sold it, the guy who bought it did somemore work on it. Its now features in a major Bollywood production "Bluffmaster".
Now have a 69 Mach1 with a 351W 4v.... In worse condition than the Conv. Am re piecing most of the body.
Unlike the states, we cant get off the shelf parts (importing it will cost a bomb after customs duty and freight) and it is easier and cheaper to make new body parts. (we've got good skilled metal workers) and they do it old skool with hand tools. Very little power tools are used.
right now the car is completly opened up and with out suspension. Its all gone! Body work is on now. Had a 69 coupe a couple of months back, also in Junk condition. Sold it as is.
My family owns a Restoration shop, running for almost 30 years now.
The classics that came are few and far, so we try and restore most of the cars. Some of the cars we get are worse than the car found in the junkyard. We've rebuilt entire cars from chassis up.
Anyways, will be asking all of you to help me out with some info when I start ordering parts. Want to do some modifications on my Mach1. Beat those Hondas and Suzukis (rice racing is growing in India).
Thanks,
Siddhraj

Baddog671: We measure in Litres so its approx. $1/litre
Sorry don't know whats it in gallons
Iskwezm: Will Post pictures in the future. We were the first resto shop in India. Most of the Rolls Royces went through us. We have alot of European cars here, so thats the main buisness, but my Dad and Uncles love American cars, and it rubbed off on me.
The Vintage and classic car market in India keeps picking up now and then. Mustangs also keep having their moments. As you would imagine there arn't many Mustangs, so demand is there, but everyone wants a cheap and good mustang. Most of the cars are badly restored and are either painted red or feature stripes of some kind, no one follows the data plate. Alot of sixes, few small blocks, trying to find big blocks (big country).
Actually the market is very complicated, too many grey areas. I could go on and on about it, its like a big political tv series. Same characters, repeating storielines etc, some very good cars.
