vin?
im having trouble with the last six digits for my 66. is it right that there are only 11 chracters for the vin? and how do you break down the last six after the engine code? if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated
Nope , just 11 numbers.
The first is the year
The second is the assembly plant
The third and fourth is the body style
The fifth is the engine size and the following six are the sequence of production starting with 100,001 ( or 500,001 on Mercurys )
The sequence numbers are the order in which the car was assigned a serial number. The first Mustang of each year will bear the numbers of 100,001 etc...
There will also be a cursive F at the beginning and end of the VIN plate on the dash. These ARE NOT part of the VIN and were only put there to illustrate the beginning and end of a Ford VIN.
Hope this helps, Dean
