Default 1966 Coupe resto questions

Hello all, I just recently bought a 66 coupe with the staright 6. The original engine apparently had a knock and the last owner pulled it and put in a 250 he picked up somewhere. I was curious if someone knows anythig about swapping out to small block V8 in these cars? Maybe someone who has been through it?

The other thing I am curious abot is swapping the front breaks to disc?

Any info would be great. Might just have to keep all original?

Chris

If you upgrade to the V8 it would be best to upgrade the suspension, rear end and tranny also. If it is an auto the tranny will fit with a bellhousing swap but it won't last long. I tried an I6 tranny behind a 289 and after a month.....BOOM. The factory used 5 lug hubs instead of 4 lug on the V8's so there was probably a reason. It should be easy to upgrade all these components since it is a very common mod.
