Default Export Brace and Monte Carlo Bar

Do you guys know if these are just bolt-on improvements on a '65 (Any cutting or welding involved)? There's a bit of range in prices on Ebay- anybody know a reputable vendor? CJ Pony Parts and Mustangs Unlimited both list them. I assume I need the curved MC bar to clear my air cleaner.

Thanks,
Rich

There is no cutting or welding involved. You will only need the curved Monte bar if you have an oval air clearner. Prices vary according to the make-up of the metal. Chrome ones usually are higher in price. Visit the FAQ for installation.

Actually, to do an Export Brace correctly, you will need to remove the original braces at the shock towers. If you leave them on, looks kinda tacky and is totally incorrect. I had them cut off while my car was in the restoration shop. I have seen Export braces set in with the existing old braces left on the shock towers, but again, looks pretty chintzy.

As to the Monte Carlo bar - they can be a real pain as the front end geometry on these old cars tends to change. You might get lucky and it fits right in, but often times, like mine, the distance between the shock towers tends to close up. May have to jack the front end up for a few days and hope the distance opens a tad. I still don't have mine in, will get back to it someday when in the mood to muck with it, LOL.
